Nature’s Paradise: Pulau Tiga in Sabah

Beautiful resort for tourists to visit

After snorkeling, we stopped for lunch. The bathroom and toilet were clean, but the water was a bit weak, which was a shame. The bathroom and shower were combined, but there were mosquitoes everywhere. We also saw monkeys, but they were wild and you shouldn't feed them. It was a small island, but the atmosphere was amazing, and it was impressive.

Absolutely amazing island. Totally under rated. There is a lot to do and to see. There are ample walking trails that will take you through forests, along white sandy beaches as well as along mangrove swamps. The island is famous for two things: the natural volcanic mud baths and as the location for the filming of a season of Survivor. That's why it is also known as survivor island. There is plenty of wild life to be seen. Monkeys are easy to spot and there are plenty of monitor lizards of all sizes too. Harder to spot are the hornbills, but they are definitely around. As well as some birds of prey. The beaches also are a natural nesting ground for turtles. Pulau Tiga can be challenging to get to from Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Penyu. You'll need to get a boat, which is a bit pricey at around RM 700 per trip. It's best to come in a group of 10-12 pax to spread the cost around. In terms of accommodation, the resorts on the island are not currently open, but fortunately the Sabah Parks base camp has three houses available for visitors to stay in. There is one large and two small houses. The big house can has two bed rooms but can fit a dozen people while the smaller houses can fit 5-6 pax. All in all it is well worth visiting for those who are okay to do a bit of planning ahead of time.
