Somewhat demanding trekking with rain, essential trekking footwear. You reach the top to see the lake in the crater of the extinct volcano, and you can go down to bathe in it (quite demanding last part). Access is through the Hotel Laguna Verde and they charge $15USD, its trail is also very beautiful and you have access to bathrooms and showers when you finish. Quite an adventure!

A scramble but we did it with 5, 7 and 11-year olds. Did not go down to the crater lake but if we go again, will go. Note a system of trails with different ways to go back, and keep an eye on your map to stay on the fastest trail.

A great and really very difficult place to access, only for true adventurers. In places there is no need for a road or a monument and one has to climb through a muddy river bed. Prepare to be muddy and scratched. Only go down to the crater if it's nice, and a little rain can make it almost impossible to continue down the path. So plan well and take plenty of water. However, the result is worth it. If you want to make your way back more pleasant or there is a threat of rain, then go to the right at the signpost (on the way back) and you will find a beautiful waterfall in the middle of the jungle, where you can swim and you will have it all to yourself. I recommend!🏞❤️

This hike is intense but completely worth it.Expect to get verrry muddy when climbing. The climb up was almost nonstop too but personally it adds to the jungle hike experience. The hike down into the crater is not an easy feat but once you get to the water, it is so peaceful and swimming in the crater was a cool worthwhile experience. Make sure to not wear sunscreen to preserve its beauty. Sloth viewing is near impossible. Its supposedly free but we had to pay a small amount to get through the hotel property
