Caño Cristales

Caño Cristales is a spectacular river found in La Macarena, Meta, Colombia, celebrated worldwide for its dazzling colors. Often called the "River of Five Colors," this unique waterway dazzles with bright shades of red, yellow, green, blue, and black between June and November. The vivid display results from the aquatic plant Macarenia clavigera, which changes color during its life cycle when exposed to sunlight. This phenomenon is extremely rare and occurs almost nowhere else on Earth, making Caño Cristales a standout natural attraction.

The river itself flows over smooth, ancient quartzite rocks estimated to be over a billion years old, creating natural pools, rapids, and waterfalls that enhance the visual appeal.
