I have traveled on Lake Winnipesaukee twice! The scenic lake with its 🏝️250, perhaps 365, islands, depending on who you ask, beaches and towns that have harbors or bays along the lakes coast always make it a pleasure to cruise along the 💦 waters. Then you have the 🏔️ mountains in the background that makes you want to travel to them. Estimated at about 21 miles, 34 km, long, 9 miles, 14.5 km, at its widest point 👉. The Lake's maximum depth of about 180 feet 🐾.or 55 meters. The lake covers about uo to 72 square miles of what are called the foothills of the White Mountains. It is a glacial lake but the flow of the water 🌊 is actually reversed due to glacial debris redirecting the direction. There is a lot of boat traffic 🚦 once the Lake thaws and people who either live along or travel 🧳 to the lake bring out their ⛵ boats and jet skis. I have 🙈 seen water 🎿 skiing and tubing. My daughter and I sailed on the M/S MT. Washington and I had a relaxing time. History and ☝️ points of interest were broadcast over the boat's intercoms. If you can visit, I certainly recommend it! It has many rivers flowing in, none named Joan, and it flows into the Winnipesaukee River. The name 📛, depending on how much you trust Wikipedia," comes from the Abanaki name Wiwninbesoki, meaning "the land that surrounds the lake". Earlier etymologies suggested the name meant either "smile of the Great Spirit" or "beautiful water in a high place".The Pennacocks resided at the outlet of the Lake which is now known as the Weirs. That is where the 🏍️ motorcycles migrate once a year to do what they do.
