I don't care if it's not a Munro or even a Corbett. This hill is simply one of the most stunning places in the highlands of "Bonnie Scotland" Suilven's translation means "Pillar" and I believe the locals call it "Sugar Loaf" Mountain because of its appearance from Lochinver. Its only 731m to the summit and when I say only that's only a reference to its height. The walk in from either side is long 10+miles and the assent is steep, at times scrambling. It is just simply majestic and its where I hope my ashes will be scattered. One of the photos is from google but I had to include it for obvious reasons....

Suilven is honestly one of the coolest hills I’ve ever done. It looks interesting from the road, but you don’t really understand how big and weird it is until you start walking towards it. The approach is long and can feel a bit endless, especially if it’s wet underfoot, but the views around you the whole time make it worth it. You’re walking past lochs, little streams and this huge rock wall just keeps getting closer and closer. The last climb up to the ridge is steep and definitely gets the legs burning, but it’s not technical just take your time and you’ll be fine. Once you’re on top, the views are absolutely unreal. You can see loads of tiny lochans, random little mountains popping out of nowhere and the sea in the distance. It really feels like the middle of nowhere in the best possible way. A few tips: treat it as a full day out, wear proper boots, and bring plenty of water and snacks, because there’s nothing out there and no shortcuts back. The path can be boggy in places and the wind on the ridge can be brutal, but if you get a decent weather window this is easily a five-star day. Would 100% do it again.
