Hiked the high peaks loop and summited Mt Marcy in early summer of 2025. I was pretty unfamiliar with the Adirondacks before planning this hike.. it was one of the most beautiful places! The smokey mountains get a lot of attention, but the Adirondacks are just as beautiful imo. They are a hidden gem. I would caution not going into a summit like Mt Marcy without experience and planning, it is very technical, and strenuous! Im a seasoned back country hiker and the high peaks loop was pretty tuff.
