From U.S. Highway 50, turn onto Echo Summit Road and follow it to the parking area near the summit. The bouldering area is a short walk from the parking lot.
Access the Pacific Crest Trail from the Echo Lakes trailhead. The boulders are located a short distance along the trail.
Park at the Pony Express trailhead off Highway 50. Follow the trail to the bouldering area, approximately a 20-minute hike.
Bring multiple crash pads and coordinate with spotters, as some problems have challenging landings.

It was a gloomy day, but once i got down to the shore, it was an amazing vista. No riff-raff hanging out in pkng lot or on the beach. One person at a time Vault toilets were clean and stocked with locks. People were respectful and space aware. This is a beautiful treasure, i so hope that we as considerate human beings can keep it nice for all to visit, so many places are getting closed off due to ppl defacing the land. Whoever takes care of grooming and maintaining this gem, my hat is off to you folks.

I hiked this Trail in 2001, and found it to be very very long. Does it really need to be this long? Wouldn't a nice 3-mile loop around a scenic Lake be just as nice? Avoid this Trail if you don't like hiking long long trails.
