Ideal for beginners or those seeking a steady-paced run, this trail is surrounded by towering pine trees and occasional wildlife such as deer and wading birds. The wide path allows for comfortable running without obstacles like large tree roots or heavy sand.

6 miles (loop)

Varied, with sections of packed dirt, soft sand, and occasional small inclines

This well-marked loop offers a slightly more challenging run with minor elevation changes and open meadow views. Expect to see wildflowers, butterflies, and bald eagles along the route. The longer distance makes it a favorite for endurance runners.

8.5 miles (loop)

A mix of hard-packed dirt, occasional wet areas, and open prairies

A long-distance trail run with peaceful sections through cypress swamps and oak hammocks. Great for training runs or runners wanting solitude. Be prepared for limited shade, so bringing extra hydration is essential.

The park is home to alligators, wild turkeys, and sandhill cranes. Morning runs offer the best chances to spot wildlife while enjoying cooler temperatures.

The parkland was once a working cattle ranch before becoming a state park in 2007, preserving Florida’s natural ecosystems.

From Lakeland, take US-98 N for 16 miles, then turn onto State Road 471 for 3 miles. The park entrance is well-marked.
