One of the highlights of my stay in Langkawi. The entrance fee for foreigners is 10 RM, which is very reasonable considering the well-maintained and clean site. There's a first level with a magnificent waterfall. It's not very high, so it's quite easy to access with children. Then you have to climb 620 steps, the equivalent of 46 stories, to reach the second level with its seven pools. It's stunning, with a beautiful view of the mountains and the sea. There are natural rock slides that make the place even more fun, and we had a good laugh with the other visitors. However, be careful of the monkeys! There are several, especially at the entrance. They aren't dangerous if you leave them alone, but we saw a man who tried to feed them and got bitten. He had a large hole in his arm and was bleeding heavily. Just enjoy watching them :) This place is a must-see on the island.

Telaga Tujuh, part of the Cambrian Geopark in Langkawi, is located in northwest Langkawi, near Oriental Village and the cable car entrance. It's Langkawi's most iconic rainforest waterfall, and a visit takes about an hour. The Malay name Telaga Tujuh means "seven wells." Over millions of years, the stream has eroded ancient Cambrian sandstone, carving seven interconnected natural pools into the mountainside. The main waterfall has a vertical drop of 91 meters and is divided into upper and lower sections. Reaching the lower pool involves about 200 steps, where most visitors admire the main waterfall and play in the water. To reach the seven upper pools, from which the name originates, a total of 638 steps must be climbed, venturing deep into the rainforest. The seven upper pools are interconnected, with water overflowing from one pool to the next, eventually forming the spectacular main waterfall cascading down the cliff. Local legend says that seven fairies bathed and played here at night, but were seen by mortals and vanished, adding a mythical touch to the geological landscape. The entrance fee is RM10 for foreigners. There is a cable car that connects to the waterfall for free, but after asking, I found out that you have to buy a ticket on the spot. I bought a cable car ticket online, but they wouldn't let me take it, so I walked 10 minutes to Oriental Village.

The Lower Falls As you enter from the main parking area, a short and easy walk leads to the base of the waterfall. Here, the water cascades down a towering cliff face into a large, shallow pool surrounded by massive rocks. It is an ideal spot for a relaxing dip, taking photos, or cooling off without undertaking the steep hike to the top. 2. The Jungle Climb to the Top Pools For those looking for adventure, the real magic lies at the upper level. Reaching the seven wells requires a trek up approximately 600+ steep concrete steps through dense, ancient rainforest. While physically demanding, the shaded canopy keeps you out of direct sunlight, and the sound of birds and monkeys along the trail makes the journey exceptionally immersive. 3. The Natural Infinity Pools & Rock Slides At the top, you are rewarded with a unique natural phenomenon: seven clear, interconnected rock pools carved over centuries of water flow. Natural Slides: Smooth rock beds allow visitors to safely slide between the pools. Infinity Views: Standing near the edge of the upper pool offers a spectacular view out over the forest canopy toward the ocean and Burau Bay. Cool Mountain Water: The freshwater remains crisp and refreshing year-round, making it the ultimate remedy after the uphill climb. Key Highlights & Features Free Natural Attraction: Access to the waterfall and pools is free (a nominal fee applies only for vehicle parking at the entrance). Wildlife Encounters: The surrounding jungle is home to macaque monkeys, dusky leaf monkeys, and tropical bird species. Secluded Setting: The upper pools feel secluded and untouched compared to heavily developed tourist sites. Essential Visitor Tips Footwear Matters: Wear sturdy water shoes or sneakers with good grip. The concrete steps and wet rocks near the pools can be slippery. Watch Your Belongings: Wild macaques inhabit the area. Keep food, plastic bags, and small personal belongings secured inside your backpack. Safety First: Pay attention to safety signboards around the pool edges, as wet rocks near the waterfall drops can be dangerous. Best Time to Visit: Visit after or during the rainy season (September to November) for maximum water flow, or early in the morning to enjoy quiet pools before midday crowds arrive
