Discover the Serenity of Gragg Prong Falls

I hiked with my 10 year old granddaughters and we had a blast!!!! Lots of stream crossings which added to the adventure. Swimming along the way and by the waterfalls so lots of time doing that. Watch for the white circles so you know where to cross the streams. Truly a great experience and many laughs.

Although most of the portions of the hike itself aren't too difficult, with most of the path being fairly flat with a couple of slightly steep uphill and downhill areas, there's 4 areas where you MUST cross a creek with unstable rocks, some covered in moss and or algae, that make it difficult to cross without getting your feet wet or losing your balance. It takes about an hour and a half to reach the waterfall, which is quite pretty. All in all, not a good experience if you don't come prepared with appropriate footwear, but otherwise good :)

Hidden gem! Such a short hike for such a beautiful payoff! The falls are really gorgeous, we went early in the season so the water was too freezing for me to tolerate swimming was the only 'bad' part. It's about 30-45 minutes out and 30-45 minutes back. We spent an hour just at the falls, and honestly it would be great to spend even more time out there next time. It was a gorgeous hike without me being completely exhausted by the end of it. The effort to payout ratio here is FANTASTIC. I loved it! I marked this "moderate" due to the fact you will encounter slippery mud, tree branches, and there are several water crossings. At the falls themselves, you will have to go down a steep-ish rock if you want to go down further. It probably wouldn't be a good hike for anyone with mobility issues or very small children. I second the review that said don't believe the 1 stars. Yes - be prepared for a one lane gravel road down a mountain to get here. Be prepared for water crossings and slippery sections. Also, any time you're swimming in a mountain stream, don't get water in your mouth... yes, giardia is ALWAYS a risk if you do that. And yeah, if you're outside in the wilderness, there may be snakes and other animals... they live there.
