The main climbing route to Mount Whitney in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is the Whitney Trail from Whitney Portal. This is a 16km one-way route with an elevation gain of approximately 2000m, and while it is possible to do it as a day trip, acclimatization to high altitude is important to prevent altitude sickness. The main climbing route is the Whitney Trail. It is the most common route from the Whitney Portal trailhead to the summit. The distance and elevation gain are approximately 16km and 2000m one way. Many people complete the round trip as a day trip. Some people camp in tents to acclimatize to the altitude. Matsudaira The standard trip to Mt. Whitney is 2 nights and 3 days. This time we also stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, and I think it was the best number of days. We recommend staying at Upper Boy Scout Lake. It's a very beautiful place with lots of greenery. You can take your time as you can reduce the amount of time you spend on heavy activities on the first day. If you have extra time, you can go for a walk to acclimate your body to the altitude and prepare for the next day. It will take about 3 hours to complete the route, but I don't think it will be a problem if you leave early in the morning. I was worried about activities at high altitudes, so I climbed Mt. Fuji twice beforehand to acclimatize myself to high altitudes. Matsudaira

Absolutely unforgettable. Hiking Mt. Whitney and reaching the summit for sunrise was one of the most moving experiences I’ve ever had. We made it a four-day backpacking trip, camping at Lone Pine Lake and Consultation Lake before making our summit push. Taking our time gave us a chance to really experience the mountain rather than simply race to the top. Summit day was a big one: 17 miles from Consultation Lake to the summit and all the way back down to Whitney Portal. We started in the middle of the night and reached the summit in time to watch the sun come up from 14,505 feet. Absolutely spectacular and worth every step. The entire trip was about 32 miles, and I started with a 58-pound pack loaded with camping and camera gear. It was challenging, but in the best possible way. I was pleasantly surprised by how well I handled the altitude and felt strong throughout the trip. Mt. Whitney is physically demanding and deserves respect, but if you prepare properly, take your time, acclimate, stay hydrated, and enjoy the journey, it is an incredible experience. Standing on the summit at sunrise with my family is something I’ll never forget. One of the great adventures of my life.
