Adventure Awaits at Third Bridge Camp in Moremi, Botswana

Er werd ons verteld dat het mogelijk was de camping te bereiken, ‘s ochtends nog gebeld om er zeker van te zijn gezien het regenseizoen. Na 1 nacht vastgezeten te hebben (22 uur lang) tussen het wild, er uitgehaald door een gamedrive toen onze tocht voortgezet, na uren rijden kwamen we bij second bridge, die was totaal kapot en het alternatief een rivier van minstens 1,5 meter diep. Toen zijn we omgedraaid en na de regenval waren de omstandigheden zo verslechterd dat iedereen plas een raadsel was of we niet vast kwamen te zitten. Onze auto ging totaal onder water. Levensgevaarlijk! Terug aangekomen bij southgate werd ons verteld dat het helemaal niet mogelijk is de camping te bereiken. Dat vertellen ze pas nadat je al honderden euro’s hebt betaald voor het park en de campings. Deze krijg je overigens niet terug! Je kunt totaal niet van deze partij en mensen op aan en het is levensgevaarlijk in het regenseizoen. Ze willen vooral zoveel mogelijk geld en vervolgens zoek je het maar uit.

Nice rooms but no crockery pots pans or cutlery. The site is intended for prepared campers as there is no food as such in the tuck shop. We were stranded due to car breakdown so we were grateful for a decent bed

Third Bridge Camp is a unique place, beautifully situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The austerity of this unfenced camp gives it an authentic charm and allows for full contact with wildlife. We travelled there in a 4x4 during the current rainy season. The roads were muddy with puddles but passable and we had no problems getting there. We used a camping site that provides privacy and silence. At the same time, it allows you to commune with nature - animals are literally everywhere. You can hear them and see them wandering around the campsite. It is a paradise for nature lovers and photographers but you have to be very careful. Basic facilities such as ablution blocks are clean and functional. There is a small shop on the campsite that offers basic supplies, and internet access, which is a nice convenience in such a remote place. It is probably not a place for everyone, but we liked it very much and will gladly return there :)

Nice camp for wildlife watching. 🐘🦓🦒🦜. Sanitary facilities great, even fresh towels. The bridge bypass was easy to find thanks to the maps of Chobe and Moremi that were available to buy at the gates. Hippo and hyena like to visit at sunset. 🫣

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.
