A magical and unique paradise. We spent a week in Udzungwa NP in late December 2026 and were completely awestruck at the area's lush landscape, biodiversity, and kind residents. It is a big of a detour from the more popular northern park safari circuit, but I promise it will be worth the trouble. We took the train to Morogoro and were then driven to the Hondo Hondo eco lodge. The rainforest is like no place I have ever been. So many endemic species, including monkeys, birds, and chameleons. Hundreds of colorful butterflies filled the hiking trails and fireflies floated among the trees at night. Sanje Falls is epic and a great place to swim after a humid hike. Salehe Mussa was our guide and was fantastic. This park is a true treasure and deserves more support. If you are looking for a genuine adventure, I highly suggest visiting when you are in Tanzania.

Great mountain with many routes to choose from. If it's your first time here, I recommend the Sanje route.
