This free site appealed to my love of indigenous ways. The museum was interesting, but I wish it had focused on the mound and didn't get off topic. Kids will love the dinosaur replicas ... even if they weren't found at the mound or even in West Virginia.

The mound itself is amazing. Because the steps up were pieces of stone they were a bit difficult and tiring but worth it because they didn't detract from the mound like concrete would have. The adjoining museum was very well done presented and informative.

This museum and mound site is very much worth visiting. It has info on the mound but also many other interesting areas like the Marble King marbles section, glass area, and China collection. And it's free. Do walk to the top of the mound for the view and beauty. Don't miss this place if you happen to be going to the penitentiary tour next door.
