July 1, 2026. The bunny flat trailhead shares starting point with a few other routes. That is where we started for horse camp trail to hidden valley. There are adequate parkings and several bathrooms at trailhead. There are bathrooms again at horse camp. I must say we were unusually slow as there was a pregnant fellow with us, so my time stamps are much slower than we usually take. For horse camp trail to hidden valley, it took us roughly 1h30 to get to horse camp (normally this would take us 1h I believe). Then it took us another 1h30 to go to hidden valley, we did not end up going all the way as the last 150 m of elevation was not well paved and scrambling was not feasible for us given our group. Then coming back to horse camp was 45 minutes and another 45 minutes to return to trailhead/parking area. We stopped frequently, sat down, had multiple breaks in between. Overall this was 4h 30min for our slow pace. The path was clear, no snow, no slush, the day was very clear.

It's a cool stone building at the base of Mount Shasta. You can fill water bottles at the faucet without treatment. There is a composting toilet. And there are many flat areas where you can set up tents. No sleeping allowed in the stone building unless it's an emergency. Also makes a nice warm up hike from bunny flats.
