The last frontier of central Asia. You really are alone here with some birds and mammals apart. To camp here, buy 2 day permits otherwise you will get fined

It is a place I would like to visit someday. This is the lake described as "Great Dragon Lake" in Xuanzang's (Tripitaka Master's) "Records of the Western Regions of the Great Tang Dynasty." Xuanzang entered the Wakhan Corridor at Ishkashim, traveled northeast along the Pamir River, reached Great Dragon Lake (Zor-Kul), then crossed the Pamir Mountains, a land of ice and snow, and descended to Kushkurgan (Katevanda), north of Kashgar. So where did he cross the Pamir Mountains into China? This was a major topic of investigation for explorers such as Aurel Stein at the end of the 19th century. It is believed that he crossed either the ice and snow-covered Beyik Pass (approximately 4,740m above sea level) or the Nezatash Pass (approximately 4,500m above sea level).
