This trailhead serves as an entry point to a scenic greenway alongside the picturesque Stones River, a tributary rich in local history and ecological value. Visitors are treated to sweeping views of calm river waters complemented by a rocky shoreline and a backdrop of deciduous woodlands, which change beautifully with the seasons. The greenway’s gentle terrain is ideal for walking, running, and biking, making it a favorite local spot for outdoor enthusiasts seeking accessible nature close to the city. The greenway’s accessibility and variety of natural elements make it a unique and inviting destination for those looking to connect with nature without traveling far from the city.

Editorial Assessment

This destination is a well-loved local outdoor space valued for its accessibility and natural beauty but lacks distinctive natural formations or unique ecological features that would elevate it to an internationally iconic landmark. It offers pleasant river views and good recreational opportunities near a city, making it a solid mid-range natural site destination.

This is by far one of the best greenways in the greater Nashville area. It’s really well maintained and the views along the river and lake are honestly great the whole way through. The length works really well for longer runs or walks, so you’re not just looping the same short path over and over. It’s also dog friendly, just make sure you bring bags to clean up after them. Depending on where you start, there’s even a pretty big dog park nearby which is a nice bonus. I’ve done a lot of long runs here over the years and it’s still one of my favorite spots.
