Driving Directions: From Fayetteville, WV, take Route 19 south for approximately 15 miles to reach the campground. Expect around a 25-minute drive. Camping at Glade Creek Campground is a gateway to nature’s playground in the New River Gorge, combining comfort with rich outdoor experiences.
Nice setup. Sites are somewhat private but you won’t feel isolated. There’s a parking lot for day hikers too. Cell service is fine. The 5ish mile (10 round trip) hike to Kate Falls is great!
Amazing lovely place. rich with abundantly quiet nature. Right next to the river, also to the wonderful falls trail. Loved the camp ground! Big large established sites, free camping, first come first serve. (Walk-in camping also. And they have proper facilities that meet Accessibility needs! Including parking, bathrooms and camp site. Simply lovely.
We did not get a numbered camp site, but according to the sign, you can camp anywhere in state park as long as it is 100 ft from the river We heard owls hoot, wolves howl, frogs, saw deer, heard the river at night. There is a train nearby, but it is a low rumble. No train horns and only 1 or 2 trains per night.
Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.
Camped in one of the 5 walk-in sites along the river; they're pretty close together but we had nice company during our three nights. Restroom was fair, no cell service if you need it.
