I'm a lifelong New Yorker who's been going to Coney Island since the 1970s. I recently went back in 2026 to see how Luna Park has been doing after Astroland closed. I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I will always pull for Coney Island no matter what, because it's an iconic place full of interesting people and local color. On the other hand, Luna Park and the rest of Coney Island have become way too overpriced, from the rides to everything else. If you got the biggest bang for your buck that would be one thing, but the rides lack variety. I also feel like Luna Park is missing the spark and edge of Coney Island from the Astroland days, which is odd because when I used to go as a kid, it was in decay (the old rotting corpse of the first Thunderbolt was still there). I can't place my finger on what's missing. It feels underdeveloped, like there should be so much more to it. So, Luna Park isn't bad. It's just kinda meh.
