Beautiful, largely untouched rainforest. I suspect there is still quite a bit of poaching, as there are hardly any monkeys to be seen. Birding is interesting, but it requires effort: the forest can be quiet for long stretches and you really have to work for it. The small pools and surrounding area about 6 km from the entrance are ultimately the most interesting spot for birding.

Pure rainforest! If you love tropical wilderness, jungle landscapes, and adventure, Ankasa is the perfect place. It’s incredibly impressive and truly primordial. Don’t expect to see large animals—due to the dense vegetation, that’s almost impossible. The rainforest itself is the experience! There are short and long trails that can be explored together with rangers. Entrance fees to the park (30 cedis) and guide fees (50 cedis per hour) are very affordable. They also offer evening hikes in the dark. Hopefully, the government will invest more in the near future to make the park more accessible for tourists. So far, very few people make their way here—which means the nature is all the more untouched. Essential for hiking: rubber boots (can be rented at the nearby Ankasa Lodge).
