Juniper Springs

I’m very disappointed with the staff at this spring. I tried launching on a kayak before the departure time but was unable to leave on time. I requested if I can get a refund or just come back the next day and use the same ticket but the staff was not accommodating at all. One of the staff members was rude and didn’t take the time to understand the situation. I don’t recommend this spring at all. The only interesting thing was the kayak as the spring is tiny and full of people.

Its very expensive $36 for 2 people, ridiculous for this tiny spring

We have visited many springs across central and north Florida and Juniper is one of our favorites. We come primarily for the swimming, so my rating is considering that specific area and activity. I have read other reviews which give lower ratings because Visitors feel the small swimming area isn’t worth the cost. I, however, take notice of amenities and services offered beyond just the body of water, and feel it’s a fair price for what you’re getting. Restroom facilities are much nicer and cleaner compared to State parks, grounds are well maintained, parking is always available, and being a mom of two small children, the most important offering of Juniper Springs is a lifeguard on duty. My kiddos love snorkeling in the spring. We have always had luck spotting lots of fish, turtles, eel, and even a very curious anhinga. With the swimming area being on the smaller side, it’s easier for me to keep a close eye on them. There is a small ledge that wraps all the way around the spring as well, with two stairs down into the water, so it makes it easier to have a place to quickly swim to and stand up if they need a short break. We love reading about the history of the old mill house, and find the nearby gift shop very convenient for any forgotten items like sunscreen, chairs, snorkel gear, or food & beverages. Swimming area is a very short walk from the parking lot, and there are plenty of seating areas around, as well as covered pavilion areas with tables. When my kiddos get older we look forward to exploring more of the hiking trails beyond the mill.
