$5 for beautiful views and trails! Azaleas are in full bloom from Jan - March, and it was well worth the visit. We “mix and matched” our trails, doing a few cut throughs to see a variety of views. We started on the pavement at the 1.8 mile trail, before climbing down into the azalea trail to be closer to the ravine. The azalea trail was closer quarters, and everyone we encountered was respectful (including fellow hikers with dogs)! Restrooms were clean, and water fountains were perfect for a refill before getting back on the road. A hidden gem, and well worth the visit.

Ravine Gardens State Park is beautiful. This deep ravine is not what you would expect to find in Florida. We walked down the paved section for a while and then ventured down a path into the ravine. It was quite steep and didn’t have a handrail. When we reached the bottom there was a spring and little streams flowing. The water was very clear and had white sand. We walked over one of the wooded suspension bridges. Dogs are permitted in the park so we saw several people walking their dogs. The park even provided doggie waste stations in several places. There were picnic tables throughout the area and even had a playground. Being February I thought it would be cooler. Next time I go I plan to wear a hat and sunglasses. A lot of the trail was shaded, but much of it was in full sun. The entrance fee was very reasonable at $5.00/car with up to 8 people or $2.00/person to walk in.
