About This Adventure Destination

Located in the heart of Desert Hot Springs, California, the Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel offers a distinctive retreat defined by its natural hot mineral waters and desert setting. This spa hotel stands out in the Coachella Valley region for its thermal mineral pools, which tap into geothermal springs reaching depths of up to 1,000 feet. These pools feature temperatures ranging from warm to hot, supplying guests with therapeutic waters well-known for their healing and soothing properties. What makes this destination remarkable is how it combines these ancient geothermal resources with a relaxed, vintage atmosphere that invites visitors to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Surrounded by views of the San Jacinto Mountains and rugged desert scenery, visitors enjoy the contrast of palm trees scattered across arid landscapes alongside refreshing water amenities. The area's geological story includes Native American use of these springs long before the development of the spa community in the mid-20th century. The hotel’s rustic charm is enriched by its friendly, attentive staff and communal vibe, which celebrates simplicity and genuine hospitality over lavish modern luxury.

Key features include several mineral pools—each with distinct temperatures and benefits—as well as on-site dining with well-loved offerings like the popular Spa Burger. Unlike typical hot springs, these pools notably lack a sulfuric smell, enhancing comfort during long stays. Whether soaking under the desert sun or sharing laughs at the nightly karaoke, guests find the Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel an authentic destination where restorative waters and welcoming people come together.

Editorial Assessment

Desert Hot Springs is recognized for its therapeutic hot springs. While it's a popular destination for relaxation and healing, it lacks the awe-inspiring natural formations of more iconic geological landmarks.

I stayed there for 4 days and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. From the start they greeted with smiles and warmth. It felt like I was in my own home. The room was nice and clean with no complaints what so ever. I what makes it 5 stars are the employees. They were super helpful and caring. A security named Sergio helped us out multiple times well we struggled to find our way around. Thank you to the staff for making our experience pleasant.

Saturday night one more time without any kind of announcement they shut down karaoke before it even started at 8:00 p.m. because there was no business in the restaurant. Well of course there's no business because nobody knows when you're going to close or open without notice. The one money Maker you have there karaoke with Scotty and nobody knows when you're going to cancel without any notice. I worked in food I ran restaurants this is the worst run facility I've ever seen and I've been going in there 25 years... Now i only go when they're open if it's convenient I sure don't go out of my way anymore!
