Would be a better view to the east with fewer trees in the way. But that would be a shame. The trees to the east are deciduous so it's probably better in the fall & winter.

I did it with my dad and friend. The view wasn't the best but it's nothing to complain about. We were the only ones there making it a very peaceful hike. I would recommend it if you want views in a calm environment.

I started at Petersburg Pass via the southbound Taconic Crest trail. I first climbed Mount Raimer, a relatively easy climb straight from the pass and from there, I continued to Berlin Mountain. The section of the Taconic Crest trail is an old forest road surrounded by a wet deciduous forest, occasional meadows, and fern fields. It was a fairly wet and muddy on that day. The summit of Berlin Mountain is a vast, flat meadow adorned with grass and blueberries. Although a fire tower once stood there, only remnants of its concrete foundation remained. There are several ways of getting down; the Taconic Crest trail continued south for another 30 miles, while the Old Ski trail led to the parking area at the end of Berlin Road. I chose the Class 1933 trail, which took me through a mixed deciduous forest with some spruces. The entire trail was soft and springy, but it was also quite steep, descending 1400 feet over about 1.2 miles. This trail goes near Haley Brook waterfall and another parking further along Berlin Road. Overall, the the trail is well marked and easy to follow. My loop was about 8 miles but it could be easily extended if you wish a longer hike.
