My family was vacationing in Arkansas and we love hiking are last name is Whitaker so we thought let's check this place out! I read about the bumpy gravel to the trail and completely underestimated it😬 we were in a minivan and only made it 1 mile up maybe before I decided to turn around it was crazy and I felt like it wasn't worth the risk, it was during a heat wave and we are 8 hours from home and didn't want to crap out my vehicle I feel completely beat by the access road and am haunted by the 11% grade on the hwy to the access, I plan to return on a cooler time of year in my truck and wrote this review to warn about the gravel road mentioned!

We spent time at Whitaker Point in the Ozark National Forest, and it was an absolute 10 out of 10 experience.” “The cliffs and valley overlooks are beautiful, and hiking along the bluffs, crossing rock ledges, and rock hopping was a blast. When the waterfall’s dried up this time of year, it opened up a unique hike down the falls. We even had a peaceful picnic beneath the overhang, which was really special. Exploring the caves where Native Americans once lived was fascinating, and we got some great photos under the rock overhang. Parking was plentiful, but the drive in can be a bit rough, so four-wheel drive is a big plus. Also worth noting, it’s not wheelchair accessible, and the hike is definitely on the strenuous side, but if you’re prepared, it’s absolutely worth it. There are no bathrooms or facilities. You must bring your own water it’s hot out there!!!

Incredible! We were lucky to start our hike at 6:30 am and find it cloudy. The scenery is amazing throughout the entire hike; it's well worth the time we invested. We only encountered one other couple along the way, and the view upon reaching Whitaker Point is breathtaking. I can say that I visited a place that was on my bucket list, and it didn't disappoint at all. It's highly recommended to bring insect repellent and hiking boots.
