A little challenging to get into the gorge if you're not fit. The viewpoint from above doesn't do it justice.

5 WOOFS! A beautiful hike with my favorite sights and smells makes happy pups. Good drinking water at the falls and place for a quick swim if you're up for it.

This is, without a doubt, my favorite waterfalls and spot in the Porcupine Mountains. There are many ways to access these falls, though many, including myself, will recommend the Pinkerton Trail. It's going to be a long hike no matter where you start from, so make sure that you are adequately packed and prepared. If you do want to tackle these via the Pinkerton Trail, you'll want to start at South Boundary Road and park where the Pinkerton Trail starts. You'll end up reaching the shores of Lake Superior, and at this point, you'll only be a couple miles away. You can swing up the Little Carp River Trail and see 3 falls on the way to Greenstone Falls, or continue along the Lake Superior Trail until you reach Big Carp River Trail. You'll pass Bathtub Falls and a few other unnamed/unmarked falls/rapids/cascades before you reach Shining Cloud Falls. It is gorgeous all year long, however, it is the best during spring and fall times. The road is not accessible to normal vehicles during the winter, but I'm not sure if you wouldn't be able to use a snowmobile or such vehicle to see these during sparkling winter months. There are also several spots to camp or even "rent" out cabins, though I'm not sure how you do it. There are more than a handful of sites up and down the Lake Superior Trail, as well as being able to set up camp at many other spots. Again, the terrain and trails here are not novice or entry, so do not tackle these without sincere preparations!
