Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

A very remote, rugged and long trail to an absolutely amazing waterfall, 5+ hours out and back. We came from the north and trusted Google's directions, that was a huge mistake that added two hours to our drive. I highly recommend taking the West Road off the Pacific Rim Highway and be prepared for a long and rough ride. High clearance and 4-wheel drive highly recommended.

Amazing to see!! I guess the water level is on the lower end right now but it was still gorgeous! You can hear the roar from the clearing spots you camp in. Our buddy was able to drive in thru the stream to pretty much the base of the falls but the water pretty much reached his hood in his FJ. I'm told this is highly likely the tallest and best waterfall to see by driving in on the island. There are others but you have to hike in, which I'm unable to do.

*Edit in March 2024* Based on the reviews of others, it appears that the landslide has been partially cleared and the road has been opened up once again. I look forward to hopefully visiting the falls one day! ~August 2022~ I have known about this place for a few years, but have never been able to make it out to the falls to see for myself. Well, this summer was the year it was going to happen! I had time off, and a truck that I knew could handle the rough old logging road, so off I went! Turned off the Alberni highway onto the West Main Forest Service Road near the Tofino/Ucluelet junction and started into the bush. Went for just over an hour into the bush, the road getting rougher and rougher as I went. As I was getting somewhat close to the falls (about 12km away I think), I came around a corner in the road, and bam! No more road. There was massive landslide covering the entire road with absolutely no hope of getting a vehicle through or around. Getting an ATV over it also seemed unlikely, although it could be possible with a dirt bike I think. Trees 4ft in diameter, and rocks and boulders of all sizes were piled up at least 20ft high and at least 100ft across. The landslide appeared to have come down a creek ravine, which I suspect happened during the heavy rains and flooding of November 2021. Suffice it to say I was bummed to not be able to reach the falls, especially after driving for over 3 hours total that day, only to be stopped short. However, it wasn't all bad. I turned around and back-tracked about 3km and found a great pull off from the road that went right down to the ocean shore. Beautiful view, flat spot to park my truck to camp in for the night, and great weather for a nice evening swim.
