I was on a motorcycle ride, so I didn't hike up to the lookout. Two ways up to the parking area. I wouldn't recommend taking the west side in a car because the road has pretty big ruts. The East side is pretty good though.

Parking on the side of the roads, no trailhead marker but a well worn path. Trail is steep and constantly uphill until the top. Flies are intense and even with bug spray, keep you moving. They seem to get more aggressive after the 1/2 way point. Also, bees or flies or swarming ants own the peak and top of old fire lookout...
