Arrived shortly after the park opened and headed straight for the Mount Britton Trail. It is a bit of a ride there and took about 30 minutes to get there from the main road and 24 minutes from El Portal Visitor's Center. Upon arriving, I was lucky enough to get one of the roadside parking spaces available for the trailhead. The trail to get to the Mount Britton Tower is about 0.8 miles each way...taking the average person about 40 minutes each way. The first portion of the trail is a narrow (about 24-inch wide) paved trail...there are some hills during this portion. The last portion of the trail toward the tower is a hill on a graveled path. While the entire trail isn't too difficult...wearing comfortably and capable (no flip flops or heels) shoes does help. I had hiking boots on which made the trek easier.
