Tranquil Waters: Freshwater Lake

High altitude lake of Dominica to discover in a wild nature. It is possible to eat on site

One of the best place of the island to visit. Simple access, short hike (about one hour) , and amazing landscapes and scenic views. Make a pause at the facility and chill (!) out. Often cloudy but really worth it

We ate really Caribbean food on site. Was very plentiful

Great hike full of adventure at Fresh Water Lake! Located about 40 minutes from Roseau, the lake is easily accessible by car with ample parking available. Little advice: bring warm clothes, a waterproof windbreaker and good hiking shoes. The higher you go, the colder it gets, with wind and sometimes rain. The hike takes about 2 hours and the ground can be very slippery due to the mud. There are a few sections where you have to hold on to a rope to move forward, but with soil erosion, some poles have fallen, making these sections a little more technical. It is better to be used to hiking to fully enjoy it. But the effort is worth it! The scenery is magnificent, with lush vegetation all along the trail. We pass through a dense tropical forest where you can hear frogs and observe superb tree ferns, various palm trees and a great diversity of endemic plants. The view of the lake from above is impressive. A must-see hike for nature and adventure lovers 🥾! ‐---------------------------- Great adventure hike at Fresh Water Lake!
