The Enchanting Blue Eye of Albania

Definitely worth seeing, unique and very special. We bought tickets for the return train ride, but then, unknowingly, due to the lack of signage, we took the trail (which initially was scenic) and after almost an hour we found ourselves at the train departure point, thus not taking the return trip. This happened to other people as well; unfortunately, Albanians are guilty of not adequately marking the routes. The trail itself is full of unmarked bikes, and you often have to go by intuition. Aside from this negative, it's still a nice walk, but not one worth doing with strollers or small children. There are also some restaurants, and three of us found the idea of ​​tables immersed in the stream, where you can eat with your feet in the water, to be a nice touch.

Very easy to get there, about a 35-minute drive from Saranda on a well-maintained road with excellent signage. You'll arrive at a large parking lot with hourly rates (e.g., a flat rate for 0-3 hours, etc.). It's literally packed with stalls of all kinds, with lots of fruit, smoothies, souvenirs, and local products, but especially water. Among the stalls and refreshment stands is an unusual little bar with umbrellas and chairs in the stream where you can soak your feet and cool off. To get to the spring, you can rent scooters, take a train for 300 lek per person each way, or walk 2 km. There's a bar and restaurant on site, canoe rentals, and a short, extremely simple trail through the woods that's doable with flip-flops or small children. The view itself is disappointing because I thought it would be larger and more impressive, but the setting is definitely worth the trip, as is the route to get there: the mountains offer breathtaking views and colors.

Way too many tourists and trash. But still the water is clear and clean.

Hier der Überblick: Parken: 300 Lek für 0-3 Stunden (es wird nicht überprüft wie lange ihr tatsächlich parkt, also nehmt die Option) Eintritt: 200 Lek pro Person (die Kontrolle ist etwas unorganisiert, wenn ihr es clever macht könnt ihr einfach durch oder nur für 1 Person zahlen und zu zweit rein, etc.) Vom Parkplatz zum Blue Eye: 300Lek pro Fahrt und Person mit der Bimmelbahn. Sobald man zu zweit ist empfehle ich sehr die E-Bikes am Eingang. Im September haben wir hierfür 1000Lek zu zweit bezahlt, also noch weniger als zu zweit hin und zurück mit der Bahn. Damit ist man quasi genauso schnell wie mit der Bahn, es macht super Spaß, weil die wie kleine Motorräder sind. Außerdem wartet man nicht auf die Bahn und ist komplett flexibel. Man kann auch zu zweit auf eins. Alternativ kann man zu Fuß gehen. Das dauert aber mindestens 20 Minuten und es ist sehr bergig. Vorort: Das Blue Eye ist quasi eine Quelle die ganz schön aussieht. Drum herum gibt es ein paar Brücken und kleine Wege, hat man aber in 10 Minuten alles gesehen. Ich empfehle das Café, bei welchem man mit den Füßen direkt im Fluss sitzen kann. Preise sind fair. Cola 250 Lek, Bier 250-500 Lek, Eiscafé 350 Lek. Ihr könnt so lange sitzen wie ihr wollt. Es gibt auch Schildkröten in einem kleinen Garten. Außerdem gibt es einen Wanderweg direkt hinterm Blauen Auge. Dieser ist aber kaum ausgebaut, etwas gefährlich und zugewachsen. Man kann ihn aber ruhig mal ein bisschen gehen, um noch andere Blicke des Flusses zu erhalten. Alles in allem für Menschen die Natur mögen und bereit sind so ca. 20-30€ (zu zweit) auszugeben, ein toller Ort! UNBEDINGT MORGENS KOMMEN! AB 10 WIRD ES SEHR VOLL!!!
