We heard that parking was limited, so we arrived around sunrise. The only tricky part was finding the turnoff from Long Canyon Trail toward Birthing Cave, so make sure to check your map carefully. The cave is fairly close to the parking area, and it took us less than 30 minutes to reach it. Even my four-year-old son was able to complete the hike! We also saw deer and wild rabbits along the way, which made the hike even more enjoyable. If you climb up to the small hollow shown in the first photo, you can take a photo like the fourth one that really captures the depth of the cave. However, getting up there requires some climbing and may be difficult if you are not confident in your climbing ability. Birthing Cave is such a unique and beautiful hike in Sedona! The trail takes you through the stunning red-rock landscape, and the cave itself is really interesting to see. Once you reach the cave, the views through the opening are absolutely beautiful and make for some amazing photos. **Be prepared—the trail is very steep in some sections**, especially as you get closer to the cave. There are rocky and uneven areas, so I definitely recommend proper hiking shoes with a very good grip. Take your time and watch your footing. My husband actually caught a stranger who almost slipped and fell off the edge of the cliff. It was a very scary moment and definitely a reminder of how important it is to be careful, especially near the steep drop-offs. **Make sure you download the AllTrails map before you start the hike!** We lost cell service along the trail, but thankfully we had the map downloaded ahead of time. At one point, several other hikers ended up following us because we had the directions and could find our way back. The cave itself is beautiful and the views are incredible, but I would not call this an easy hike. If you’re afraid of heights or uncomfortable with steep drop-offs, be extra cautious. Overall, it’s a unique Sedona experience with beautiful scenery, but **come prepared for steep terrain, download your map, and take safety seriously.**

Very short hike, less than 1h both ways with photo stop. no crowds in the evening golden hour. Parking is very limited - 10 cars max, other option would be on the side of the road. Cave is not very big, not very steep as well - photos turn out great anyway :)
