This color is due to iron oxide, and it intensifies especially during sunrise and sunset, offering breathtaking views.

It's really hard to reach the actual summit.

I went to see the sunrise. For the sunset, you need to head to the gate before the sun sets, otherwise it will close, so I recommend watching the sunset at Elim Dune. What you'll find is a desert on a completely different scale, and the vast natural beauty within the desert. It's famous, and I think everyone who comes to Sesriem will definitely go, but my personal ranking of the best places to visit in the Sesriem area is: ① Canyon ② Deadvlei ③ Elim Dune ④ Dune 45 Therefore, I recommend prioritizing the Canyon and Deadvlei first. I went to Dune 45 after Elim Dune, but since both are deserts, just on a different scale, I didn't feel there was a huge difference in what you could see. After the gates open, sunrise is unusually crowded for the Namib Desert. Group tours also seemed to arrive around the time the outer gates opened. If possible, it's best to stay inside the gates and arrive early.

One of Namibia's most famous and photographed dunes, and for good reason: its perfect shape and changing colors with the sunlight make it truly spectacular, especially at dawn. The climb is challenging due to the sand, but the view from the top is worth the effort. The only drawback is that the area can get quite crowded during the morning rush hour, so if possible, arrive early to enjoy it more peacefully.

Fantastic experience! 🤪 We stopped here, fascinated by the views from our car window. The contrasting morning light and the fierce wind created a kind of mystical picture. Out of a group of 6 people, two reached the top.🏆 The sand blows diagonally, as if it were some kind of test in a wind tunnel. The climb tests character and gives incredible impressions!
