About This Adventure Destination

Foxy Beach, located in the captivating coastal region of Simon's Town, South Africa, is an enchanting destination known for its charismatic residents—the African penguins. This vibrant spot is part of the larger Boulders Beach area and offers a unique wildlife spectacle just a short drive from Cape Town. Foxy Beach stands out for its pristine white sands and the charming sight of penguins waddling along the shore. This beach is one of the few places in the world where these delightful creatures can be observed in their natural habitat.

The beach's gentle waves and protected location make it ideal for families, offering calm waters perfect for a refreshing dip. The surrounding granite boulders not only provide a picturesque setting but also create sheltered coves where visitors can enjoy a serene day by the sea. Foxy Beach is a part of the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area, ensuring that its rich biodiversity remains preserved.

The history of the penguin colony dates back to 1982, when the first pair of breeding penguins made their home here. Since then, the colony has flourished, drawing nature enthusiasts and photographers from around the globe. With boardwalks allowing close viewings without disrupting the penguins, it's a perfect blend of natural beauty and conservation efforts.

Visitors to Foxy Beach will be charmed by the playful antics of these adorable birds, making it a must-see for anyone traveling to the South African coast. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or simply seeking a unique beach experience, Foxy Beach promises unforgettable memories.

Really interesting place to see lots of African penguins! I actually think you’ll see more penguins here than at Boulders Beach. They were just hanging out on the beach, and some were even swimming around. Such cool and cute animals! There’s also a little shop at the entrance where you can buy souvenirs and clean toilet facilities. Tickets are around R245 per person, but I think it was worth it. Around 30 minutes here is more than enough to enjoy watching the penguins without feeling rushed.

We didn't go directly to the beach; we just hiked the trail and saw penguins and dassies. Amazing experience! With just tips from the parking attendants, it was fantastic.

The place is lovely and cute 🥹✨ Head to the other side towards the exit, at Access to the Sea, and there we saw some really cute penguins… in real life! 🐧
