If you think the beginning is hard, you should stop. The wooden steps are steep and if you can't do them, turn around. They go for a while. The rock sections would be challenging in the rain. This is not an easy trail at all. Some dogs will have problems with one of the rock sections with chains. We had to help our guy up a bit. Definitely ride the gondola down! Views are fantastic. Several places for a dog to get some water from the creeks.

This hike is difficult, but worth it for the views!! We did the chief peaks the day before and the sea to summit is harder, steeper and longer. It is not for beginners as it is over 900m in elevation and over 7km. You need good hiking boots; there are many rocks, slabs and roots where you will use your hands to get up, but it is sooo beautiful. You can take the gondolas down for 20$; I honestly dont know how people go back down by foot as the trails are so steep. I would recommend parking at the stawamus chief parking lot to avoid paying 10$ for parking at the gondolas; you can walk back from the gondolas on the sea to summit trail (about 10min max). The trail is well indicated up until youre 3/4 done; then it splits in two trails and it gets a bit more confusing, but nothing you cant do; just pay attention. Definitely recommend this hike if youre in Squamish!

This is not an easy hike. This is a straight up advanced hike, and we are seasoned hikers. Your heart will be racing for most of this. I would not recommend dogs here, unless your dog is active, big, and OK with scaling mountains/boulders/rocks. It’s quite unsafe to go down (although people do) so plan to spend $20 on a ride down. Last gondola is usually around 5pm but double check before you go. We paid $10-11 for all day parking at the base gondola parking. Take a quick break around “Slippery Rock” (where the waterfall is) and a longer one at the halfway point where there is a big boulder overlooking the water. It takes us a little less than 3 hours with these breaks, but 4.5 hours our first time when we were beginner. You will need good shoes and lots of water on this hike. Be prepared to use your hands and climb on uneven terrain. The steps are extremely steep. High injury prone trail. That being said, the views are extremely rewarding. Good luck!
