My group and I had the most AMAZING experience while camping on bear island, most of the reason why was the staff! We had missed the ferry to bear by about 5 minutes and a park ranger kindly offered to save our trip by taking us himself to the island. The amenities we found in the island were amazing as well as the campsite. The next day we had a volenteer offer to drive us to the ferry dock, which was a huge help for us in the morning. You can really see how much the staff and campers care for such a special place! 10/10 recommend.

Bear Island! Is a Beautiful beach that you catch a short ferry ride to. There is bathhouse and concession stand on the island. There is about a 1/2 mile hike from ferry drop off to beach theres a couple golf carts that run on a volunteer bases that can transport you from ferry to beach they are doing it as a volunteer service so be kind and tip the driver if you use the service. Hands down this is one of the most beautiful beaches Ive visited in NC.
