Dunajec River Gorge The Dunajec River Gorge and Trzy Korony in the Pieniny Mountains. Photo and review by Stanisław End of June 2026. A fantastic trip to the Pieniny Mountains, including rafting on the Dunajec River and other attractions, with TRIO TRAVEL. I took advantage of the most popular Dunajec River rafting trip. Rafting on the Dunajec River Gorge is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Poland. The Dunajec River Gorge runs through the Pieniny Mountains in southern Poland and northern Slovakia. The Dunajec River is the border river between the two countries. The gorge is characterized by some of the most interesting geological structures and magnificent views. Traditional raftsmen's rafts lead through the river canyon, offering unforgettable views. Rafting on the Dunajec River is one of the most recognizable and valued tourist attractions in all of Poland. The route of Poland's longest rafting trip leads from Sromowce Wyzne to Szczawnica. The tour is booked by phone, and guests are picked up at pre-arranged stops, punctual to the minute. The driver-guide, Mr. Michał, is a very pleasant guy, sharing interesting facts about the surrounding area and offering practical tips on how to best spend your time on this trip. He shares legends and ensures proper organization. We also visited the dam and castle in Niedzica-Czorsztyn. The trip was a great success, and the weather was perfect. Trzy Korony (Three Crowns) is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Pieniny Mountains. From the viewing platform on Okrąglica, which drops down over a 500-meter cliff to the Rówień River near the Dunajec River, there is a magnificent view of the Pieniny Gorge, the Pieniny National Park, and the Tatra Mountains. At the southern foot of Trzy Korony in Sromowce Niżne is the PTTK "Three Crowns" mountain shelter. The climb to Trzy Korony takes 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the chosen trail. The descent usually takes about an hour less. The mountain rises about 530 meters above the Dunajec River flowing at its foot. The summit consists of five peaks, the highest of which, the highest, is called the Round Peak, at 982 meters. The highest peak features a viewing platform with railings. The Dunajec crosses the Pieniny Mountains twice. Above, it flows through the Czorsztyn and Niedzica Gorges, where Czorsztyn Lake is today. I highly recommend it. When in this region of Poland, a visit to the Pieniny Mountains is a must. You can enjoy unique attractions like rafting on the Dunajec River, and explore the Pieniny Mountains from this route. I recommend it, Stanisław, Kwidzyn
