Waterfall Wonders: Tamanique Waterfalls

Excellent, you have to walk a little but people like nature.

It's not worth going with a guide, they charge you 8 USD for a fairly obvious path and they only take you to one waterfall while you can go to 2 on your own, since they stay too long in one of them. The waterfalls are beautiful, I wouldn't say the most beautiful in El Salvador, but especially the waterfall that doesn't go away is even more beautiful because you can go around it and see it from all angles, in addition to taking an excellent dip. The walk is approximately 45 minutes down and 45 minutes up at a normal pace and the waterfalls are very close to each other!

I don't understand why this company has some low reviews. The company is very independent, and it tells you right away what the price is. For our case, it was 3 of us, and the minimum to go was 4 people. We opted out to pay the extra fee to go as a private tour, but another 3 people showed up, and we all went together. We drove our cars to save us 1km of walking and we took the guide with us. He then took us to 3 waterfalls and explained the spots that we could jump from. The terrain is as natural as it gets. You are in the wild! Bring water, sunblock, hat, and be ready to have fun.

The tourism office and/or tourguides should warn people about the level of difficulty for the hike. We paid 7$ pp and a local guide (Jose Jaime) came with us, super friendly and patient. About the lack of information: I'm 36 years old, average weight and height and do not work out on a regular basis. The 30-min descent was ok, a bit challenging (also because we wore flipflops and didn't know about the need to wear walking/hiking shoes) but the heat was overwhelming. When we made it there, the waterfall was beautiful and the ice-cold water was just perfect to cool down and relax. We chilled there and didn't go any further, we only got to the first waterfall but the guide told us there were 4 I think. When it was time to climb back up, I swear I nearly pass out. It's very challenging for someone not used to hike or to exercise, so please reconsider if you're going with kids, elderly people or are just not fit enough to walk 1 hour uphill in a scorching heat! If that's not the case, then please go and enjoy.
