The relative height of Damavand, which is determined by measuring the height of the peak compared to the lowest valley between this peak and the nearest higher peak, is 4,667 meters, which places Damavand in the twelfth place among the highest peaks in the world in terms of relative height. In the list of peaks based on relative height, the 5,610-meter Mount Damavand is the 12th most prominent and independent mountain in the world, after Mount Everest, Aconcagua in Argentina, Denali in America, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Vinson in Antarctica, Elbrus in Russia, and Mont Blanc in the Alps, and its relative height is higher than Mount Ki2, Nanga Parbat, Kangchenjunga and many other high mountains, which indicates prominence. The volcanic mass of Damavand is different from the land around it. The main reason why Damavand mountain can be seen from far away is the relative height above Damavand Ice waterfall on the southern face of Mount Damavand there is a frozen waterfall that is unique in the world. The height of this waterfall is 7 meters and its diameter is 3 meters. Its ice never melts. In the summer season, every day due to the sun's rays around noon and one hour in the afternoon, the air temperature reaches above zero, and after that, very little water flows, and at around 4 in the afternoon, the air temperature drops below zero and the melted ice freezes again, thus creating an ice waterfall that is always frozen. Above this waterfall, there is a pit that is covered with snow all year round. Located at an altitude of 5100 meters, Damavand Mountain Icefall is the highest waterfall in the Middle East in terms of height above sea level.
