Located approximately 30 minutes from North Adams, take Route 2 East and follow signs for the state forest. Through careful planning and a spirit of adventure, your camping experience at Savoy Mountain State Forest will be both memorable and enriching.
Campground was nice. Some people camping were not. Camping in nature is not about playing loud music, being loud and smoking weed from sunrise until who knows when at night. Also, voices carry ,so don't be swearing!! There were families and a Boy Scout troop there to unwind and relax,just like us. Do your partying at your own house or somewhere else away from the public. Our nice getaway became anything but that. The ranger on duty just basically said " oh well, what can I do?". We left a day early because of this...I had already paid for it and lost my money and my faith in the Mass. DCR. Sorry for the rant. I Love the outdoors-the park was beautiful-our experience was not! !!!!!
I have never been there. However, I am fascinated by the alleged Bigfoot sightings, that some folks claim to have seen it in this park. I would like to go there and check it out for myself.
A family favorite with many enjoyable trails. Highlights include the many ponds, tannery falls and busby trail.
Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.
