I've been coming here for 42 yrs. We used to live right down the way on route 40. My mom and I would come every day go hiking and see the falls. We bring our dogs too. Since moving to ky when I was 15. We would try to make it a tradition to come to Charleston Falls before leaving. Wish people respect it. Control your kids behavior or don't bring them. Also by law there are signs there too. You must keep your dog on a leash. Just going yesterday 2 dogs were off a leash. We weren't there long cause there was screaming brats with a beer bellied guy with no shirt on which is rude. We couldn't enjoy the falls. So we left on the way back out 2 dogs were off a leash. I work with animals and I worked with and have a very obedient dog but I abide the law. I leash them. As far as kids i would never allow my child to act like a spoiled brat in public. Tantrums will not provide privileges in public. If they're disruptive don't bring them anywhere or take them away. There's other people who wants to enjoy their time not listen to your rotten kids.

This is a fabulous walking area. Trails are well maintained and easily accessible. Rocky climbing out of the waterfall near the cave. Snakes coming out of home holes near the cliff base and lots of spiders in the rocks. If you love nature, you will love this spot.
