Should be called State Cattle Ranch. Around the lake and river is fine but the back is crowded with Cows. Sooo much cow waste also.

It beautiful, especially for those that hike an fish. They need better signage especially in Walden, Co. DO NOT use Google maps there. They took me in an RV north of town into the sand hills an marked my campground in the middle.

Skip the RMNP crowds and head to State Forest State Park instead. We did the Lake Agnes trail right at sunrise; the Nokhu Crags reflecting off the alpine cirque look unreal. Keep your eyes peeled around the willow marshes—we ran into two bull moose within twenty minutes. Bring windproof shells; weather flips fast above treeline even in midsummer.
