Drove through there today 7/5/2025, campground is open. Road washout repairs are marginal at best, would not expect them to hold up to a good rainstorm. Yes lots of large old oaks have been removed, I would suspect due to the bark beetle problem in the area. Still a very nice campground.

I saw this campground on my map and wanted to check it out. I'm glad I took a look first because, sadly, it is closed due to "road maintenance." I walked down, and the road is only partially washed out in 2 places. It's a shame because the star gazing in this area would be incredible! I hope this spot gets some love soon and opens back up. (4/19/25 - closed)

Cool camp ground way off the beaten path. Wow, yes, the name of Indian Flats Campground was changed to Atáxam Mámta'ash Campground to honor the descendants of the land. The name translates to "People's Flat".

All the biggest shade oak trees in campsites have been cut down with no explanation. Road really unmaintained and campground empty, I suspect because the sites that were once shaded are now very exposed. Such a shame!

Gate is locked. I still went in, but it’s really unkept, bathrooms are closed, water is off, and the grass/trees are due for maintenance. Looks like they’re in the middle of cleaning the place up, so hopefully it’ll be ready by early winter
