Agawa Bay Campground: A Coastal Retreat

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

Shoreline is very rocky, but in there lies the beauty ! Cold water does not provide much for swimming. Clear evening skies are a wonderful delight ! Don’t forget to visit the Visitor Center You can’t afford to miss it, Very well done & informative ! Road side truck traffic noise drops off throughout the evening & nearly non existent at night. If you’re gonna be moving up & down the coastline a bunch… bring extra fuel!

We stayed for one night on our way west a few weeks ago. Lots of sites all under trees, and campground very well looked after. Convenient location but obviously a bit noisy due to proximity to the highway. Staff were useful in finding a site to suit us, aware that it was very windy that day and that waterfront would not be ideal for a tent. Another good value for money Ontario Park.

If you're camping for several days, i'd highly suggest looking at a different provincial park. We live adjacent to the QEW in the Toronto area and I think we'd have had a quieter nights sleep camping in our driveway than at this park. The campground is literally only a few meters away from the highway and you can hear the roar of every single car and truck that goes by ripple into your tent or camper. There's zero feeling of seclusion or a sense of being hidden away in a quiet campsite. It's LOUD. For a park so massive, it's really a head scratcher why the campsite was positioned here - in a skinny section of the park abutting onto the highway. The plumbing in the showers was awful and this park needs to hire a plumber ASAP. 2 of the showers were out of order, and one was impossible to turn off and was constantly dripping and wouldn't dispense hot water. The 4th shower was also very difficult to shut off and the lever was all messed up. I eventually managed to get it to dispense hot water, but it took LOTS of manipulating. Also, none of the faucets in the bathroom dispensed hot water. Probably because any hot water is being wasted by the showers that won't turn off. The only reason I don't give this campground a 1 star is the tree canopy above the campsites is lovely. And there's plenty of water fill up stations. The park store and visitors centre is very impressive too and there's a lovely view at Agawa Bay. But in all honesty, after having visited a couple of state parks on this trip, this park was a huge disappointment in comparison. Again, if you're looking for a lengthy stay in a nice quiet campground, this is NOT the campground for you.
