Simply wonderful, this is our second time in the Eisriesenwelt. And it's always beautiful. It won't be the last time either. The guides are super nice and friendly and take their time with individual questions. The alpine pasture where you can stop off is great. The prices are moderate. The staff friendly.

Cold Stylistic Beauty By Earth

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

Amazing! Such a great experience. Make sure you go on the earliest trip available. I went on the first trip of the day and had a nice peaceful walk up the mountain to the caves and the experience was breathtaking. When I came out I saw close to one hundred people waiting to get in the caves. Be prepared: It is close to an hour walk uphill to the cave entrance when you factor in waiting for the gondola. This is not a hike for anyone who is out of shape. I saw multiple people who turned around and left. Once you get to the caves, there are 700 stairs going up and 700 stairs going down in the cave. At the final elevation of around 1775m(5800ft), this is difficult. Factor in the cold and dark, it could be too much for some people. A woman in my group had to leave almost immediately because she had a panic attack. Speaking of the cold, be ready for freezing conditions but don’t wear too heavy clothing, you move a lot and stay plenty warm. There are two tour languages German and English. This was awesome and I’m extremely happy to have experienced this trip! Shout out to our cave guide Siggy! He gave a great tour and spoke amazing English! Take the earliest tour you can!

This was such a great adventure! The hike up to the ice cave is anything but easy though. The website is a little misleading when it comes to that. First you park, then hike up to the visitor center where you can get tickets for the day, drinks or snacks. Then your first hike begins, up to the cable cart which is uphill for the most part. Make sure to bring water. It took us about 20 minutes. You then get into this cable cart which will bring you up higher. It is a gorgeous view all the way up and also fun! When you get out, you have to hike up for five minutes to get to a restaurant. I took a nice break there, and had some Apfelstrudel. The food is ok, nothing special. From that point on, it will be at least another 20 minutes of just uphill hiking. Again, not easy. I stopped a few times just to enjoy the view on my way up because it is simply stunning. When you finally make it to the ice cave, you can feel how much colder it already is. It is freezing inside the ice cave and windy, and a lot if steps to take. Make sure to bring a warm jacket and maybe a beanie for your head. Overall, I highly recommend doing this though. Take your time, bring water and snacks.
