Down through the Dells where Wisconsin runs, past sandstone shadows and sun-splashed suns, the river rolls, ripples, rumbles and roars, carving old castles with watery saws. Walls upon walls, halls upon halls, canyons and crannies and rocky free-falls. Sandstone stacked, cracked, crooked and tall, shaped by the river that outlasts them all. Rush through the narrows, hush in the bends, water keeps working where woodland ends. Swirl it, twirl it, grind it away, grain after grain, day after day. Pines grip cliffs with ridiculous roots, growing from ledges without any boots. Ferns fill fractures, moss muffles stone, little green kingdoms claiming their own. Look up, look down, look out below, watch that Wisconsin wiggle and flow. Eagles ride high while the river runs low, and ancient rock keeps stealing the show. But beyond all the boats and the bright Dells delight, there’s a wilder Wisconsin tucked out of sight. No flashing attraction, no carnival call, just river, rock, forest and sandstone wall. So wander the woodland, wonder the Dells, where water writes stories that sandstone still tells. Ripple and rumble, tumble and run, the river’s been carving since long before fun. Rock by the river, river through rock, Wisconsin keeps winding without watching the clock. Pack it in. Pack it out. Leave the wild wonderfully wild. Forward, Wisconsin. Peace. Piece. Peas.
