It is a place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle, you have hiking trails, you can grill and the view of the river is very nice. In summer it must be spectacular. It is pet friendly.

The views from the upland trail are great now that the trees have shed most of their leaves. Nice hike,no prolonged strenuous sections. Not crowded.

First day hike of 2025 on the Lee's woods trail with the teens on a cold New Year's day. Drove early for an hour and a half to try and join the ranger led hike, which ended up getting cancelled. Started with a walk across the Maryland border over the Potomac River. *Wink wink* Go fish! The hike was gentle to begin with. Same place where a ranger gently dumped a possum trapped in a trash can. Went past the amphitheatre and the cannon to the viewpoint. Loop back to the main trail and spot the remains of the old house. Teen girl pranks her brother and we have a hearty laugh. Get down off trail near the old railroad curve. Down to the visitor center. Interesting details about NOVA's own state park, including the original resort. Buy tees for $5 such a deal. Walk a little along the river, as the kids take a break to read. Can picture a fully crowded picnic area, playground in a different season. Just across from IKEA, but totally charming once you go under the railroad bridge. Be warned - constant choo choo noise on the Lee's woods trail.
