About This Adventure Destination

Clark Creek Natural Area is a remarkable natural destination located near Woodville in southwestern Mississippi. This protected 700-acre site stands out for its abundant waterfalls—more than 50 in total—making it one of the most waterfall-rich places in the region. The waterfalls cascade over rugged sandstone bluffs, creating stunning rocky pools and strong currents that appeal to hikers and photographers alike. These falls, some rising up to 30 feet, are unlike any found elsewhere in Mississippi, offering a unique combination of scenic beauty and varied terrain.

The trails wind through dense hardwood forests shaded by Southern Magnolias and dotted with ferns and rare plant species. The area's geological features, including weathered sandstone and steep bluffs, highlight the natural forces that shaped the landscape over millennia. Clark Creek’s ecosystem supports vibrant wildlife, including birds like hawks and songbirds, which add life to the peaceful surroundings.

Established as a protected area in the 1970s, Clark Creek reflects a strong local commitment to conserving its distinctive environment. Visitors will find well-marked trails, but the terrain can be challenging and slippery around the falls, so it rewards those prepared for a moderate to strenuous hike. The combination of cool, shaded paths and the sounds of cascading water makes this spot a refreshing outdoor escape during warmer months.

An awesome place to reset and connect with nature! It is never crowded, making it a truly peaceful escape. The trail offers plenty of shade as you wind through the trees, listen to the waterfalls, and let the cool water flow over your feet. Some parts have a steep incline, but there are stairs to help you through them. Entry is $6 per person (with discounts for seniors and children)—absolutely worth it!
