A complete package for beginners and paddlers looking to upskill: day one focuses on whitewater manoeuvres, rapid reading and craft rescue; day two drills swift-water self-rescue, assisted rescue, capsize and re-entry plus land-based theory such as first aid, hypothermia and reading water.

THE RIVERS

Training on the Nymboida, Boyd and Clarence systems

Participants train where the operator has decades of local experience on the Nymboida and Boyd rivers and are prepared to use those skills on the Clarence Canoe & Kayak Trail, Australia’s longest-mapped whitewater route.

Qualified local instructors and swift-water rescue technicians

Courses are run by highly qualified whitewater instructors and swift-water rescue technicians with advanced certifications and local river knowledge, backed by rescue gear, 4WD support and wilderness first-aid equipment.

Instructors, rescue gear, transfers from the base to river put-ins/pull-outs, 4WD support, radios, InReach satellite communication, a wilderness first-aid kit and river snacks and water are provided.

Can I bring my own boat and gear?

Yes — participants are encouraged to bring their own kayak, canoe, raft or packraft; the operator can provide boats, PFDs, paddles, helmets and cags if required.

Are transfers to the course included?

There are no transfers included to the Buccarumbi base; the operator does provide transfers from the base to river put-in and pull-out points during the course.
