JORDAN RIVER CLIMBING FIELD GUIDE
Master the Rack: Two Days to Trad-leading Confidence on the Jordan River Fringe
A focused, two-day VIBE course that teaches gear placement, anchor-building and lead-management so intermediate climbers can move from top-ropes to single-pitch trad routes with confidence.
Master the Rack: Two Days to Trad-leading Confidence on the Jordan River Fringe.
Set against the coastal rock and forested approaches of British Columbia, this two-day VIBE course immerses intermediate climbers in the fundamentals of traditional (trad) lead climbing: placing protection, building anchors and managing the flow of a lead climb. The format emphasizes hands-on practice and in-field decision making so participants finish with the practical skills needed to climb single-pitch trad routes independently.
Highlights
Outing Highlights
Gear placements, anchors and lead management
Two full days are devoted to the nuts-and-bolts of trad: selecting and placing passive and active protection, constructing reliable anchors, and managing rope systems and fall consequences under expert supervision.
Immersive, hands-on instruction over an extended weekend
The extended course format gives extra time for repetition and troubleshooting on single-pitch routes so techniques become practical habits rather than quick demonstrations.
Coastal B.C. venues for real-world practice
The program is offered at multiple British Columbia venues, providing varied single-pitch terrain where students can practice placement and anchor skills in realistic outdoor settings.
What the day feels like
What the two days feel like
Expectation is practical repetition: guided demonstrations followed by supervised practice, then progressive challenges that push placements, anchor construction and route evaluation. Instructors provide focused feedback while students alternate leading, placing gear and building anchors until each step becomes intuitive.
